Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

Spencer Tolson enters his third season coaching running backs at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2024. Coach Tolson helped lead a 2023 team that finished with a 7-3 record and 6-1 record against HCAC competition that resulted in a runner-up finish. 

Previously to joining the Fightin’ Engineer football program Coach Tolson was the head football coach for Schlarman Academy in Danville, Illinois. Coach Tolson coached 3 years at Schlarman Academy, 1 year as the defensive coordinator and 2 years as the head football coach. During his time as Schlarman he coached 3 all-state football players and 1 academic all-state player. Before Schlarman Academy, Coach Tolson spent 2 years at Hoopeston Area High School as an offensive and defensive line coach. In his spare time Coach Tolson coaches and competes in the sport of powerlifting.  

Coach Tolson earned his bachelor’s degree from Aurora University in Coaching and Youth Sports Development in 2016. While at Aurora University Coach Tolson played 3 years on the Spartan football team, 2 years on the defensive line and 1 year on the offensive line. Tolson also graduated in 2020 with his master’s degree in secondary education from American College of Education in Indianapolis, Indiana.
