Kelsey Young enters her first season as the head coach of the Rose-Hulman softball team in the 2026-27 academic year, and her fifth year as a member of the softball coaching staff.Â
Young served on the Rose-Hulman softball coaching staff for four seasons, from 2023 to 2026, as an assistant coach. In her four years with the team, she has been a part of three seasons where the Fightin' Engineers earned 17 wins or more. She was also a member of the coaching staff that led the Fightin' Engineers to the HCAC Tournament in 2025, making their first appearance in the tournament in 17 years.Â
Young is a Terre Haute native and is a graduate of Terre Haute North High School. She remained in the area and continued her education at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in human resources in 2021.
Young was a student-athlete at SMWC on the softball team. During her college career, she posted the school record for single-season putouts with 227 during the 2018 season. She was also a member of the 2019 team that won the USCAAÂ National Championship.
