Volleyball Splits Two Matches in RHIT VB Pink Game

TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology rallied from a two-set deficit to defeat Hanover 23-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-16, 15-11 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball action on Saturday.

In the nightcap of a doubleheader, Kalamazoo topped the Engineers 25-20, 25-21, 25-21 in a non-conference matchup.

Prior to the first match, 20 local breast cancer survivors were honored by the Rose-Hulman and Hanover squads as part of the RHIT VB Pink Game.  All proceeds from the match were donated to the Wabash Valley Breast Cancer Survivors Organization.

Freshman Katelyn Race (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) led the Engineer offense with 18 kills and was one of four players in double figures with 11 digs.  Senior Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) added 16 kills and 21 digs.

Sophomore Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) tallied 10 kills, 22 assists and nine digs, while freshman Morgan Dreyer (Batesville) led the team with 28 assists and had 11 digs.  Senior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) added a team-high 28 digs.

Against Kalamazoo, Jensen led the offense with 10 kills and had 16 assists.  Race added eight kills, and Dreyer had 19 assists along with seven kills.  Dangel (19) and Levitt (13) led the performance in digs, and Dangel also had a team-high three service aces.

Rose-Hulman stands 11-13 overall and 2-3 in conference play, while Hanover stands 10-13 and 1-2 in league play.  Kalamazoo finished the day at 11-11 on the season.  The Fightin' Engineers travel to California for three matches on Fall Break next weekend.
