TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology battled Bluffton University in a tight five-set Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball matchup before falling 15-25, 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 15-13 on Saturday at Hulbert Arena.
Sophomore Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) led the Fightin' Engineers with 14 kills and 23 assists. Senior Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) added 12 kills and 11 digs, and freshman Morgan Dreyer (Batesville) also contributed a double-double with 11 kills and 21 digs.
Freshman Katelyn Race (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) had 11 kills, while senior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) paced the Engineer effort with 29 digs.
Kendra Parmenter led a balanced Bluffton offense with 11 kills, and Kenny Brown had 10 kills and six blocks. Sara Roth (22) and Brooke Ruffer (21) provided support with assists.
Bluffton improved to 9-12 and 1-0 in league play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 9-12 and 0-3. The Fightin' Engineers travel to Anderson University on Wednesday.
