HANOVER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology split a pair of matches Saturday, Oct. 11, defeating Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) foe Hanover in four sets by scores of 18-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-18 and falling to Ohio Wesleyan in three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-22, 25-22.
In the victory over Hanover, freshman Becca Poppel led the Fightin' Engineers offensively with 12 kills while sophomore Emily McLendon added eight kills. Rose-Hulman's setter duo, junior Sarah Jensen and sophomore Morgan Dreyer, dished out 18 and 16 assists respectively. Defensively, freshman Gabi Razma tallied 31 digs marking the fourth time the libero has totaled 30 or more digs this season.
The Engineers notched five service aces as a team along with six blocks.
In the loss to Ohio Wesleyan, Rose-Hulman hit a .264 clip, the high percentage of the entire season thus far. Junior Claire Raycraft and Poppel totaled seven and six kills respectively while Dreyer and Razma notched 13 and 12 digs respectively.
The Fightin' Engineers record stands at 11-13 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
Rose-Hulman returns home to face DePauw University in the final non-conference match of the season on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
