TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Franklin. The Fightin' Engineers are slated to kicking with the Grizzlies at 7 p.m.
Rose-Hulman, which ranks No. 8 in the NCAA III Great Lakes Region, brings an 8-3 record into the game. Last week, the Engineers fell 1-0 at Mount St. Joseph and defeated Transylvania 2-1 for the first time since 2007. Currently sitting fourth in the HCAC with a 2-1 mark, Rose-Hulman's strength is its backline. Junior goalkeeper Lucinda Combs has tallied seven of her 26 career shutouts through 11 games this season.
Offensively, junior Hayley Gilliam and freshman Eliska Saiz continue to pace the Engineers with 10 and nine points respectively. Both players had an impact on the Engineers' victory over Transylvania as Saiz scored the first goal and Gilliam assisted on the second.
Franklin comes into the game with a 7-2-2 record including a perfect 3-0 mark in HCAC play. The Grizzles, who have won their last five games, have losses to Trine and DePauw along with draws at Fontbonne and at Webster. Franklin has three conference wins over Mount St. Joseph, Transylvania, and Defiance.
Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series with Franklin 13-1. The Engineers have won the last two meetings with Franklin's lone victory in the series coming in 2011.
After the game at Franklin, the Engineers will travel to Manchester for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Oct. 18.
