TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play Wednesday, Oct. 22, when the Earlham Quakers come to Rose-Hulman for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
The Fightin' Engineers, which have not lost since Oct. 7 at Mount St. Joseph, come into the game with a 9-3-1 record overall including a 3-1-1 mark in conference play. Last week, Rose-Hulman battled to a scoreless draw at Franklin on Wednesday before defeating Manchester 1-0 on the road on Saturday.
In the victory over Manchester, junior Kate DeMoss scored the lone goal of the game 3:43 into overtime off of a cross from fellow junior Hayley Gilliam. DeMoss's third goal of the season gave the Engineers their first win over Manchester in three tries.
DeMoss and Gilliam have each scored three goals this season along with freshman Madeline Romeo, who has also found the back of the net three times. Freshman Eliska Saiz leads the team, having netted four goals.
The Engineer defense helped junior goalkeeper Lucinda Combs earn her 27th and 28th career shutouts at Franklin and at Manchester. Combs grabbed six saves against Franklin and nine saves against Manchester.
Earlham comes into the contest with a 5-8-1 record. The Quakers have a 2-3 mark in HCAC competition. Earlham leads the all-time series 8-5, but Rose-Hulman has won the previous two meetings.
After the game with Earlham, Rose-Hulman travels to Hanover for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, Oct. 25.
