HANOVER, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team held Hanover College scoreless for over 76 minutes, but two quick goals from the Panthers gave Rose-Hulman its second Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) loss 2-0 on Saturday, Oct. 25.
Senior Haley O'Neil and freshman Eliska Saiz each fired three shots to lead the Fightin' Engineers offensively. In total, Rose-Hulman fired 10 shots compared to 26 for Hanover.
Junior goalkeeper Lucinda Combs tallied eight saves bringing her season save total to 99.
"I was proud of the way our team battled for the full 90 minutes," head coach Amy Helliwell said. "We put together some create offensive opportunities. We just did not convert them into goals."
Hanover's two goals were scored by Erin Hancock in the 77th minute and Daria Volker in the 81st minute.
Rose-Hulman falls to 10-4-1 on the season and 4-2-1 in HCAC play. The Engineers will play their final two games at home, facing Anderson on Oct. 29 and Bluffton on Nov. 1.
