TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team continues its quest for a berth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament Wednesday, Oct. 29, against Ravens from Anderson University. The match is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
The Fightin' Engineers went 1-1 this past week, defeating Earlham 1-0 last Wednesday and falling at Hanover 2-0 on Saturday. Despite the loss, Rose-Hulman's overall record stands at 10-4-1 while its conference record is 4-2-1. The Engineers clinch a spot in the HCAC Tournament with two victories in their final two regular season games.
Offensively, five Engineers have totaled over five points this season. Junior Hayley Gilliam leads the squad with 11 points (three goals and five assists) while fellow junior Kate DeMoss (three goals and three assists) and freshman Eliska Saiz (four goals and one assist) have each totaled nine points. Freshman Madeline Romeo (three goals and one assist) and senior Haley O'Neil (two goals and two assists) round out the top five with seven and six points respectively.
Defensively, Rose-Hulman has allowed just 10 goals in 15 games played. Junior goalkeeper Lucinda Combs ranks fifth in NCAA III Women's Soccer in save percentage (.919). Combs has corralled 99 saves this season to go along with 10 shutouts. The Engineers have surrendered multiple goals only three times all season.
Anderson comes into the game with a 7-7-2 record including a 2-3-2 conference record. The Ravens have lost their last three games at home falling to Hanover, Manchester, and Franklin.
Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series with Anderson 13-0-1. The lone tie in the series came in 2000, while Rose-Hulman was a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).
After the match with Anderson, Rose-Hulman will play its final game of the regular season at home on Saturday, Nov. 1. The game is slated to begin at noon.
