CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored twice in the first half and three minutes into the second half to earn a 3-1 men's soccer victory at Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday night.
Senior Andrew Bartush put the Fightin' Engineers on the board in the 22nd minute for his second goal of the season, courtesy of an assist from freshman Trevor Bednarek. The lead reached 2-0 in the final seconds of the first half, when Bednarek scored off a deflected corner from the foot of junior Dieter Schultz.
Rose-Hulman added one more insurance goal just three minutes into the second half, when junior Marco Cattani booted home his second goal of the season unassisted.
The Fightin' Engineers maintained control for much of the contest, outshooting Mount St. Joseph 20-7 for the night. Matthew Funk scored the lone goal for Mount St. Joseph with 20 minutes remaining.
Senior Drew Miller picked up 42nd career victory in goal with two saves in the contest.
Rose-Hulman improved to 7-3-2 on the season and 2-0 in league play, while Mount St. Joseph dropped to 2-10 and 0-2 in conference games. The Fightin' Engineers host Transylvania University on Saturday.
