TERRE HAUTE, Ind – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team hosts Transylvania University Saturday, Oct. 11 for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) game slated to begin at 1 p.m. on the Intramural Field.
The Fightin' Engineers enter the game with a 7-3 record including a 1-1 mark in conference play. Rose-Hulman defeated Defiance 1-0 on Oct. 4 and most recently fell at Mount St. Joseph 1-0 on Oct. 7.
Rose-Hulman is led offensively by junior Hayley Gilliam and freshman Eliska Saiz who have both scored three goals this season. Seven other Engineers have scored at least one goal. Gilliam leads the squad with nine total points.
Junior goalkeeper Lucinda Combs has played all 900 minutes thus far this season. The Danville, Ky., native has surrendered just seven goals in 10 games and has totaled 61 saves.
Transylvania enters the contest with a 2-10 record including a 0-2 mark in HCAC competition. The Pioneers' last victory came on Sept. 13, a 1-0 win over Ohio Northern.
Rose-Hulman has a 2-8 career record against Transylvania. Head coach Amy Helliwell is seeking her first victory over the Pioneers as Rose-Hulman's last victory came in 2007.
After the game with Transylvania, Rose-Hulman will travel to Franklin for a 7 p.m. game with the Grizzlies on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
