TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team closed its regular season with a 2-0 victory over Bluffton University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play Saturday, Nov. 1.
Freshman Eliska Saiz did not wait long to score her sixth goal of the season. The Albuquerque, N.M., native scored in the fourth minute on a breakaway to give the Fightin' Engineers a 1-0 lead.
Rose-Hulman took the 1-0 lead into halftime, and put the game away in the 74th minute on a goal from junior Helena Bomber.
The Engineers outshot Bluffton 21-4 in the contest including a 31-2 advantage in shots on goal. Senior Haley O'Neil fired a team-high eight shots with six of them on target. Saiz took three shots while juniors Kate DeMoss and Katie Maier each took two shots.

Rose-Hulman finishes its regular season with a 12-4-1 recording including a 5-2-1 mark in HCAC play. The win total marks the first time the women's soccer program has reach 12 wins since 2008, before
Amy Helliwell was the head coach.
The Engineers clinched the No. 3 seed for the HCAC Tournament, which begins play with the semifinals on Tuesday. Rose-Hulman will travel to Franklin for a 7 p.m. contest. The two teams battled to a scoreless draw at Franklin in the regular season.
