NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team swept Manchester University 3-0 by scores of 25-20, 26-24, 25-17 Saturday, Nov. 1 to clinch the sixth and final spot in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament.
The Fightin' Engineers hit a .252 clip in the match while holding Manchester to a mere .152 clip. Rose-Hulman hit .205 for the first two sets before heating up to a .375 attack percentage in set three.
Offensively, junior Sarah Jensen and sophomore Emily McLendon led the way with seven kills each. Senior Briana Harvey and freshman Becca Poppel each had six kills.
Sophomore Morgan Dreyer and Jensen split the setting duties dishing out 17 and 14 assists respectively.
Defensively, three Engineers recorded double digits in digs with freshman libero Gabi Razma leading the way with 17 digs. Harvey and Dreyer chipped in 14 and 10 digs respectively. Freshman Mackenzie Gossard and Jensen each tallied three block assists.
Rose-Hulman will play at Hanover on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The winner will play Bluffton at Defiance in Wednesday. Rose-Hulman played Hanover twice this season, defeating the Panthers 3-2 on a neutral floor and winning 3-1 at Hanover.
