TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team enters the Colorado College Tournament weekend with a 2-1 record. After splitting a pair of games at the McWilliams Classic at Washington U. to open the season, the Fightin' Engineers defeated Illinois Institute of Technology 73-31 on Nov. 24.
Rose-Hulman will face the host Colorado College squad on Friday at 5 p.m. Indiana time (3 p.m. MT) then face Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday at 3 p.m. Indiana time (1 p.m. MT).
In its victory over the Scarlet Hawks, Rose-Hulman led 41-15 at halftime and coasted to the win. Senior Gracie Gibbs tied her career-high scoring 12 points while freshman Alyzia Dilworth added 11 points off of the bench. Rose-Hulman held a 48-33 advantage in the rebounding department. In addition, the Engineer defense forced Illiniois Institute of Technology in 27 turnovers.
Colorado College comes into the weekend with an 0-5 mark on the 2014-15 season. The Tigers most recently fell to St. Olaf College 58-53 on Nov. 26.
Iowa Wesleyan comes into the weekend with an 0-2 mark so far this season. The Tigers most recently fell to Mount Mercy University 80-75 on Nov. 22.
After the games in Colorado, the Engineers will travel to West Terre Haute for a game at St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Dec. 3. The game against the Pomeroys will be the first for the Engineers at St. Mary-of-the-Woods since the 1999-2000 season.
