Men's Basketball Winning Streak Reaches Four

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored a season-high 77 points with a balanced scoring attack to top Blackburn College 77-67 in men's college basketball action on Thursday night at Hulbert Arena.

Junior Jimmy Miller scored a season-high 21 points on 7-12 from the field and 6-7 from the free throw line to lead the Rose-Hulman offense.  Junior Tyler Duffy added 14 points and a career-high nine rebounds, while junior Matt Loesing added 12 points and seven boards.

Senior Corey Povaleri provided nine points and seven rebounds, and sophomore Wade Stallings tallied career-highs with eight assists and seven rebounds.  Sophomore Collin Wojcik led the bench attack with seven points and seven rebounds.

Jake Lochhead came off the bench with 16 points and four rebounds to lead the Blackburn offense.  Chris J. Davis added 14 points, and Andre Strayhorn reached double figures with 11 points for the Beavers.

Rose-Hulman shot 58% from the field in the final 20 minutes to turn a 37-32 halftime lead into a 24-point lead midway through the second half.  The lead reached as high as 64-40 on a score by junior Michael Hallstein with 8:35 left in the game.

Miller scored on a layup with 3:45 lead to keep the lead at 71-51, before Blackburn relied on a strong late charge to close within the final margin.

Rose-Hulman improved to 5-4 with its fourth consecutive victory, while Blackburn dropped to 2-8.  The Fightin' Engineers look to continue their winning ways on Saturday with a trip to Illinois Institute of Technology at 4:30 p.m. Central Time.
