Men's Soccer Suffers Setback at Centre

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team lost its first game of the 2014 season Sunday, Sept. 21, falling 2-0 at Centre College.

The Colonels scored the game's first goal in the 40th minute when a Philip Shehan shot bested Rose-Hulman goalkeeper Drew Miller. Centre added a second goal to seal the game late in the second half.

Centre outshot Rose-Hulman 10-8 in the contest and also held a slight 3-2 advantage in shots on goal. Both teams earned two corner kicks.

Sophomore Ben Lyon led the Fightin' Engineers offensively taking three of the team's eight shots. Five other Engineers each took one shot.

Coming into the game, Rose-Hulman had allowed just one goal in its first seven games.

The Engineers, who rank fifth in the Great Lakes Region, dip to 5-1-2 on the season. Rose-Hulman will round out its non-conference schedule with home games against Wabash on Sept. 24 and against No. 15 North Park on Sept. 27.
