TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team finished a 3-1 weekend by splitting two matches at the Fightin' Engineer Invitational on Sunday.
Rose-Hulman defeated Illinois College 25-11, 25-18, 25-17, before falling to event champion St. Ambrose 25-15, 25-16, 25-15 in the last match of the weekend.
In the Illinois College win, sophomore Morgan Dreyer led a balanced attack with eight kills. Dreyer added 13 assists and 10 digs to the effort.
Sophomore Emily McLendon added seven kills and three block assists, with freshman Becca Poppel contributing six kills.
Freshman Alison Rogozinski led the team with 15 assists, and freshman Gabi Razma had a squad-best 15 digs. Sophomore Katelyn Race led the serving effort with five service aces.
Against St. Ambrose, Poppel and senior Briana Harvey recorded five kills each to lead the Engineers. Dreyer had 14 assists, and Rogozinski recorded a pair of service aces. Razma had 19 digs to lead the defensive effort, and Harvey contributed 10 digs.
Following the tournament, freshman Mackenzie Gossard was named to the all-tournament team for her performance.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the DePauw University Invitational with matches against Hanover and Millikin on Friday.
