TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team looks to win its second consecutive contest when it travels to Hanover College on Wednesday, Jan. 21 for a 7:30 p.m. contest with the Panthers.
The Fightin' Engineers enter the contest with a 9-6 record overall and a 5-3 mark in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play. Rose-Hulman most recently defeated Mount St. Joseph 55-36 on Saturday. Junior Carrie Morris paced the Engineers with 13 points while Josie Schmidt added nine points and seven rebounds. As a team, the Engineers held the Lions to 14 first half points and led 30-14 at the break.
Senior Gracie Gibbs leads the team offensively averaging 9.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Marshall is second on the team in both categories, averaging 7.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
As of Jan. 18, Rose-Hulman ranks 16th in the nation in scoring defense (50.2) and 29th in field goal percentage defense (32.8).
The Panthers comes into the contest with an identical 9-6 record as well as a 5-3 mark in HCAC play. Hanover saw its two-game win streak snapped last Saturday, falling at Manchester 66-58. Three Panthers average double figures in scoring, Jessie Davidson (16.3), Megan Caudill (15.1), and Alicia Hopkins (13.8).
Hanover leads the series 26-4 and have won the last 15 meetings.
After the game at Hanover, Rose-Hulman continues its road trip Saturday, Jan. 24 for a 1 p.m. game at Transylvania.
