GAME NOTES
The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team enters the second game of its three-game home stand Saturday, Jan. 10, when the Defiance Yellow Jackets come to Terre Haute for a 1 p.m. contest.
The Fightin' Engineers enter the contest with a 7-5 record overall and a 3-2 mark in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play. Rose-Hulman most recently notched its third HCAC victory of the year with a 78-53 win over Earlham on Wednesday. In the victory, Gracie Gibbs, Andi Evers, Kristen Belyea, and Alyzia Dilworth all scored in double figures with the latter three notching season-highs in the process.
Gibbs leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 9.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Abbie Marshall is second on the team in both categories, averaging 8.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
As of Jan. 8, Rose-Hulman ranks 14th in the nation in scoring defense (50.0) and 30th nationally in field goal percentage defense (32.4).
The Yellow Jackets comes into the contest with a 4-8 record including a 3-2 mark in HCAC play. Defiance has HCAC victories over Manchester, Mount St. Joseph, and Anderson. Kelsey Tietje and Megan Zachrich lead the Yellow Jackets offensively average 17.8 and 11.8 points per game respectively.
Defiance leads the all-time series with Rose-Hulman 11-6. The Engineers won both meetings during the 2013-14 season, however.
After the game with Defiance, Rose-Hulman finishes its home stand by hosting Franklin on Wednesday, Jan. 14. The game is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
