TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Franklin College scored three goals in the first half to earn a 4-1 women's soccer victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Tuesday night.
Haley Lowe scored in the fourth minute for the first goal of the match. Jasmine Hunt and Audra Lane added first half goals, before Maddie Fleet completed Franklin's scoring with a goal in the 47th minute.
Rose-Hulman responded with a goal in the 72nd minute to close within 4-1. Senior Hayley Gilliam scored off a rebound from a shot by sophomore Kirby Kern to put the Engineers on the board.
Franklin outshot Rose-Hulman 15-10 in the contest. Kern led the Fightin' Engineer offensive effort with three shots. Senior Lucinda Combs recorded three saves in goal for Rose-Hulman.
The Engineers return home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with another HCAC matchup against Manchester University. Franklin improved to 11-1 and 4-0 in HCAC play, while Rose-Hulman stands 5-8 overall and 1-3 in league matches.
