TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology extended its streak of matches without a loss to eight with a 2-0 win over Manchester University in men's soccer action on Saturday.
Junior Alex Jansen opened the scoring in the 28th minute on a score, courtesy of a pass from senior Mike Smyser. Freshman Erik Eksten added an insurance goal in the 61st minute, on another pass from senior Dieter Schultz.
Jansen tied for team-high honors with his fifth goal of the season with his first-half goal. Schultz's assist brings his season total to a team-high six.
Rose-Hulman outshot Manchester 18-2 in the match, with Ben Lyon having a team-high five shots. Sophomore Carter Wright picked up the victory with the shutout as Rose-Hulman improved to 9-3-2 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play.
The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. matchup at Earlham College.
