RICHMOND, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology extended its winning streak to three and its consecutive streak of matches without a loss to nine with a 4-0 men's soccer victory at Earlham College on Wednesday.
Rose-Hulman scored twice in each half to move to 6-0-3 over its last nine matches. The Fightin' Engineers have also been ranked No. 4 in the Great Lakes Region in the initial rankings released by the NCAA earlier on Wednesday.
Freshman Charles Lynch put the Engineers on the board in the ninth minute, courtesy of an assist from junior Alex Jansen. The lead reached 2-0 just 3:30 later, when Jansen found the back of the net on a pass from junior Nick Kowalkowski.
Rose-Hulman continued its scoring early in the second half, when Kowalkowski scored on a pass from junior Ben Lyon in the 53rd minute. Lyon rounded out the scoring after a pass from sophomore Michel Farhat.
Rose-Hulman outshot Earlham 13-4 in the contest, with goalkeepers Carter Wright and Michael Lawrence combining for the shutout. Three players led the offense with two shots each.
Rose-Hulman improved to 10-2-3 overall and 5-0-1 in HCAC play, while Earlham fell to 7-6 and 4-2 in conference matches. The Fightin' Engineers host Hanover College in the Senior Day home match on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
