TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology puts its perfect 3-0 football record on the line at Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Anderson University on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
The Fightin' Engineers stand 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play after defeating Hanover 35-7 in the Homecoming game on Sept. 19. Rose-Hulman leas the HCAC in passing offense (382.7 ypg), total offense (541.0 ypg), rush defense (113.7 ypg), pass defense (179.0 ypg) and total defense (292.7 ypg) entering Saturday's matchup.
Junior Austin Swenson currently ranks No. 3 nationally in pass completions per game (33.3 per game) and No. 8 in passing touchdowns (11). He also ranks fourth nationally in total offense (391.7 ypg). Swenson has completed 100-of-141 passes (71%) for 1,138 yards and no interceptions so far this season.
Junior Alec Fisher was named HCAC Offensive Player of the Week after hauling in 11 receptions for 165 yards and three touchdowns against Hanover. Other HCAC players of the week this year include Swenson (offense vs. Illinois College), Craig Larew (special teams vs. Illinois College) and Kevin Nowak (defense vs. Illinois College).
Anderson stands 1-3 on the season and 1-1 in conference play entering Saturday's matchup. The Ravens earned a 51-20 win over Earlham last week for their most points in a game since scoring 56 points against Earlham in 2010. Deon Alexander led the offense with seven receptions for 174 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.
