TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology kept its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball tournament hopes alive with a 25-21, 25-22, 14-25, 25-22 win over Defiance College in Senior Day on Saturday at Hulbert Arena.
Freshman Julia Hammond led the Rose-Hulman offense with 12 kills, and freshman Bailey MacInnis added 10 kills. Sophomore Alison Rogozinski had a team-high 24 assists and contributed 14 digs. Sophomore Gabi Razma led the defensive effort with 30 digs.
Rose-Hulman celebrated Senior Day for Sarah Jensen and Kali Nordquist prior to the match, and the duo played a key role in the win. Jensen had nine kills, 21 digs and 17 assists, while Nordquist recorded 15 digs for the Fightin' Engineers.
Rose-Hulman improved to 13-16 and 2-5 in conference play, while Defiance dropped to 9-17 and 4-3 in league matches. The Fightin' Engineers travel to Anderson University for another conference match on Wednesday.
