SUNDAY TITLE GAME: LIVE VIDEO AND LIVE STATS
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed four starters in double figures and shot 49% from the field to defeat Fontbonne University 81-61 in the opening round of the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament on Saturday night.
Junior Matt Loesing led the balanced attack with 15 points on 5-8 from the field and 5-5 on the foul line. Junior Dillon Reynolds also reached double figures with 12 points on 4-6 from three-point range.
Senior Jimmy Miller recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Tyler Duffy also reached double figures with 10 points on 4-6 from the field with four assists.
Other key contributors included freshman Luke Callahan with eight points and seven rebounds; junior Collin Wojcik with seven points, five assists and four rebounds; senior Mitch Williams with six points; and freshman Charlie Aimone with five points.
Rose-Hulman relied on hot shooting from the field, three-point range (9-21 for 43%) and the free throw line (16-19 for 84%) in the victory.
Bryce Zimmerman led Fontbonne with 11 points off the bench. Tyler Williams contributed 10 points for the Griffins.
Rose-Hulman improved to 2-0 on the season and advances to the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament championship tomorrow at 4 p.m. Central Time. The Fightin' Engineers will face the host Illinois Wesleyan squad ranked No. 24 nationally.
