TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology puts its 2-0 women's basketball record on the line with a trip to the Marietta College Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
The Fightin' Engineers will square off with Case Western Reserve University for the first time in women's basketball on Saturday at 8 p.m. to open the tournament. Rose-Hulman will also face either Marietta or Hiram College on Sunday at 1 or 3 p.m., depending on the outcome of Saturday's games.
Rose-Hulman stands 2-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 season after defeating Albion 53-45 and Oberlin 57-54 last week. The balanced scoring attack features four starters averaging between 7.0 and 10.5 points per game, in Josie Schmidt (10.5), Abbie Marshall (9.5), Ally Bromenschenkel (8.5) and Cassidy Cain (7.0).
Case Western Reserve has a 1-3 record entering this weekend's Invitational. The Spartans defeated Elmira and have losses to Denison, Baldwin Wallace and Waynesburg. Marietta is off to its best start in 25 years at 4-0, while Hiram has a 4-1 record so far this season.
After this weekend's Invitational, Rose-Hulman opens its home schedule with a matchup against Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday Dec. 2.
