TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed four players in double figures and shot 72% from the field in the second half to earn an 85-52 victory over Earlham College in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball action on Wednesday night.
Junior Matt Loesing scored 16 points on 7-9 from the field and recorded his first career double-double with 10 rebounds to lead the Fightin' Engineer offense. Junior Tyler Duffy scored 13 points on 6-9 from the field, sophomore Collin Wojcik had 11 points off the bench on 5-8 from the field, and senior Corey Povaleri also reached double figures with 10 points.
Other key contributors inlcuded freshman Chris Tuskan with a career-high six points on 4-4 from the free throw line; junior Jimmy Miller and senior Michael Hallstein with five points each; and junior Dillon Reynolds with a career-high six assists and three points.
Lajay Kelly led the Earlham offense with eight points. Rose-Hulman outrebounded the Quakers 40-21, and the Engineer defense forced 25 turnovers in the victory.
Rose-Hulman led 38-24 at the half after shooting 42% from the field and hold the Quakers to just nine first half field goals. In the second half, the Fightin' Engineers hit 18-of-25 shots from the field and 10-of-11 from the free throw line to pull away and secure the victory.
Rose-Hulman improved to 11-9 on the season and 7-6 in league play, while Earlham dropped to 0-20 on the campaign. The Fightin' Engineers return to action at home against Manchester University on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Hulbert Arena in another in-state conference matchup.
