TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team opens Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play Saturday, March 14, with a 1 p.m. match against Franklin.
Rose-Hulman enters the contest with a 2-2 record having defeated Webster and Monmouth while falling to IU-Southeast and Wabash. First singles player, sophomore Brandon Benedict, comes into the match with a 2-2 record. His brother, freshman Derek Benedict, carries a 2-0 singles record at the sixth flight into the matchup with Franklin.
As a team, the Fightin' Engineers are 19-17 in all singles flights and have a 9-8 record in all doubles matches.
Franklin comes into the contest with a 1-3 record having defeated Greenville 6-3 last Friday, March 6. The Grizzlies are scheduled to host Indiana Institute of Technology on Wednesday, March 11.
Luke Snyder is the long Grizzly with a 2-0 singles record this season, playing primarily third singles. As a team, Franklin is 8-16 in singles matches and 3-9 in doubles flights overall.
After the match with Franklin, Rose-Hulman hosts St. Francis (Ind.) on March 19 at 5 p.m.
