TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on the two best offensive performances of the season to earn a 13-3 and 13-6 doubleheader sweep over Manchester University on Sunday afternoon at Art Nehf Field.

The Fightin' Engineers crossed the 10-run mark for the first time this season in the opener, then duplicated the 13-run output in game two.

In the opener, Rose-Hulman scored five times in the third inning and had four-run innings in the fourth and fifth in the 13-3 win.  Junior Nevin Fansher led the offensive effort with four hits, including a double with four RBIs. 

Sophomore Drew Schnitz added three hits and had two RBIs.  Other multiple-hit performances for the Fightin' Engineers included junior Kody Alayon with two singles and scored twice, and sophomore Kevin Jendra tallied two singles and three RBIs.

Junior Karson Nixon improved to 1-1 on the season after six strong innings of work.  Nixon scattered five hits and recorded three strikeouts to move to 1-1 on the season.  Senior Ben Menich pitched the final three innings with two strikeouts to earn his first save of the year.

In the nightcap, Rose-Hulman pounded out 16 hits and scored in the last seven at bats to earn a 13-6 victory.  Junior Hazen Hamather blasted his first career home run and a double with three total hits, four RBIs and two runs scored to lead the offense. 

Alayon also had three hits with two runs scored and one RBI.  Sophomore Zach Trusk contributed two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs, while Schnitz pounded out two doubles and scored twice.

Senior R.J. Carroll improved to 3-1 on the season with a strong eight-inning performance.  Carroll allowed eight hits and two earned runs with four strikeouts in the victory.

Rose-Hulman returns to action with a Tuesday non-conference contest at Franklin College.
