BOX SCORE
ANDERSON, Ind. -- Anderson University relied on a pitching gem from Cameron Dotson to earn a 7-0 victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball action on Tuesday afternoon.
Dotson allowed just four singles in eight innings of work to earn the victory for Anderson. Jeremy Shelmadine had four hits and scored twice, and Austin Young added three hits with two RBIs to pace the Ravens offense.
The Rose-Hulman offense featured singles for Kody Alayon, Kevin Jendra, Josh Koutnik and Zach Trusk. The best chance for offensive came in the sixth with the Ravens leading 3-0. Rose-Hulman loaded the bases before a Koutnik line drive was hauled down in the outfield to prevent a multiple-run inning.
Freshman Joey Callahan did not allow an earned run until the seventh inning. Callahan scattered nine hits and was charged with three earned runs in the final frame.
Anderson improved to 16-7 on the season and 8-4 in HCAC play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 12-10 and 7-5 in league games. The Fightin' Engineers return to action with a non-conference game at Fontbonne University on Wednesday afternoon.
