TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology had its six-match winning streak snapped with a five-set loss to Centre and a four-set loss to Ohio Wesleyan University on Sunday at Hulbert Arena in day two of the Rose-Hulman Invitational.
Centre topped the Engineers 20-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 15-10 in the opener, before Ohio Wesleyan claimed a 25-13, 26-28, 25-20, 25-16 win in the nightcap.
Against Centre, senior Sarah Jensen led the offensive effort with nine kills and tallied 15 assists. Freshman Marissa Gollnick led the team with 19 assists and added six kills, with freshman Julia Hammond contributing eight kills to the performance.
Sophomore Gabi Razma had a team-high 21 digs for Rose-Hulman, while junior Emily McLendon had two solo blocks and two block assists. Sophomore Mackenzie Gossard contributed three solo blocks to the effort.
Against Ohio Wesleyan, freshman Bailey MacInnis led the offensive effort with 12 kills. Hammond added nine kills, with three players contributing six each.
Jensen recorded a team-high 26 assists, with Dreyer reaching double figures with 14 assists. Razma had 23 digs, and sophomore Becca Poppel contributed 14 digs to the effort. McLendon led the team with three solo blocks.
For her efforts, Razma earned all-tournament team honors following the completion of the tournament.
Rose-Hulman stands 8-3 on the season and returns to action with a trip to the Millikin Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
