Women's Basketball Winning Streak Hits Seven

BOX SCORE

DEFIANCE, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed five players in double figures to increase its winning streak to seven games with a 75-53 women's basketball victory at Defiance College on Saturday afternoon.

The Fightin' Engineers scored 31 points in the third quarter and shot 48% from the field to earn its 12th win of the season.  Rose-Hulman also held Defiance to just 32% from the field in the contest.

Freshman Brianna Gliesmann led the Rose-Hulman offense with 18 points on 7-9 from the field and 4-4 from three-point range.  Sophomore Alyzia Dilworth tied a career-high with 14 points on 7-10 from the field, and senior Andi Evers also tied a career-high with 12 points on two three-pointers and 6-6 on the foul line.

Other Rose-Hulman players in double figures included twin sisters Abby Bromenschenkel and Ally Bromenschenkel with 10 points each.  Senior Cassidy Cain added five points and six assists.

Rose-Hulman relied on a late first half rally to take a 25-20 lead at halftime.  Defiance relied on an 8-2 run to take the lead at 28-27, but Rose-Hulman responded with a 17-2 run of its own to take a 44-30 lead midway through the third quarter.  One key sequence featured three-pointers by Evers, Gliesmann, another by Gliesmann and Abby Bromenschenkel on consecutive possessions in a 12-0 spurt.

Ashley Williams and Kelsey Tietje scored 14 points each for Defiance.  Sam Ervin also reached double figures with 12 points for the Yellow Jackets.

Rose-Hulman won its seventh consecutive game dating back to a Dec. 12 loss at Bluffton.  The winning streak is the longest for the Fightin' Engineers since the team's 21-5 season in 2006-07.

Rose-Hulman returns to action at home with a matchup against Earlham College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
