LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology looks to extend its eight-game women's basketball winning streak with Saturday afternoon's 3 p.m. away matchup at Transylvania University.
The game will now take place two hours later than the originally scheduled start time due to a snow storm that is heading toward Lexington starting tonight.
Rose-Hulman stands 13-3 overall and 7-2 in HCAC play entering Saturday's game after a 62-49 win over Earlham on Wednesday evening. The Fightin' Engineers shot 44% from the field, including 42% from behind the arc. The offense was led by freshman Brianna Gliesmann (14 pts) who went 2-2 from 3-point range, and ranks first in the league at 3-point percentage (60%).
The balanced Rose-Hulman scoring attack features eight players averaging between 5.0 and 8.2 points per game. The starting frontcourt has featured Ally Bromenschenkel (8.3 ppg, 58% from the field), Josie Schmidt (7.8 ppg) and Abbie Marshall (6.2 ppg). The starting backcourt has included seniors Cassidy Cain (5.6 ppg) and Andi Evers (3.4 ppg).
Other leading scorers for the Fightin' Engineers have included Kristen Belyea (7.4 ppg), Brianna Gliesmann (7.8 ppg), Chiarra Franklin (5.1 ppg) and Alyzia Dilworth (5.5 ppg). A total of 12 players have seen action in eleven or more contests.
Transylvania stands 11-5 overall and 7-2 in league play entering Saturday's matchup. The Pioneers are currently on a five-game win streak and their most recent loss on the season is from Rose-Hulman on January 2, 2016. The Engineers beat Transylvania 61-58 at Hulbert Arena.
The Pioneers lineup features two of the HCAC's leading scorers. Katelyn Smith ranks second in the conference with 16.3 ppg, and Kristen Hayes averages 15.1 ppg. Transylvania is also leading the conference in 3-point field goals made during a game (7.3).
Transylvania leads the all-time series with Rose-Hulman 17-5, but Rose-Hulman won the most recent meeting this month.
After Saturday's matchup, Rose-Hulman returns to action with an away conference game at Hanover College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
