HANOVER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology looks to extend its nine-game women's basketball winning streak with Wednesday evening's 7:30 p.m. away matchup at Hanover College.
Rose-Hulman stands 14-3 overall and 8-2 in HCAC play entering Wednesday's game after a 65-61 win over Transylvania on Saturday afternoon. The Fightin' Engineers shot 38% from the field, including 81% from the free throw line. The offense was led by junior Kristen Belyea (12 pts) who went 3-6 from the field, and went 6-6 from the charity stripe.
The balanced Rose-Hulman scoring attack features eight players averaging between 5.4 and 8.2 points per game. The starting frontcourt has featured Ally Bromenschenkel (8.2 ppg, 56% from the field), Josie Schmidt (7.6 ppg) and Abbie Marshall (6.2 ppg). The starting backcourt has included seniors Cassidy Cain (5.8 ppg) and Andi Evers (3.2 ppg).
Other leading scorers for the Fightin' Engineers have included Kristen Belyea (7.4 ppg), Brianna Gliesmann (78.0 ppg) who leads the HCAC in three-point percentage (58%), Chiarra Franklin (5.4ppg) and Alyzia Dilworth (5.4 ppg). A total of 12 players have seen action in twelve or more contests.
Hanover stands 8-9 overall and 4-6 in league play entering Wednesday's matchup. The Engineers beat Hanover at home on January 6th 83-70. The Panthers lineup also features one of the HCAC's leading scorers in Allison Nash (16.1ppg).
Hanover leads the all-time series with Rose-Hulman 28-6, but Rose-Hulman won the most recent meeting this month.
After Wednesday's matchup, Rose-Hulman returns to action at home on Saturday against undefeated Bluffton University. The doubleheader will feature a reversal of standard starting times, with the men playing at 1 p.m. and the women's 20th Anniversary Celebration Game slated for 3:30 p.m.
