HANOVER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology extended its women's basketball winning streak to 10 games with a 80-63 victory at Hanover College on Wednesday evening.
Rose-Hulman led the Panthers at halftime by a 40-32 count, before Hanover came out with a quick 11-2 run to take a one-point lead. The Fightin' Engineers answered with a 14-4 run to take a double figure lead late in the third quarter. Hanover was unable to close the margin within single digits in the fourth quarter.
Freshman Chiarra Franklin led a balanced Rose-Hulman scoring attack with 14 points on 8-10 from the free throw line and 3-8 from the field. Sophomore Alyzia Dilworth came off the bench to reach double figures with 12 points.
Other key contributors to the balanced offensive attack included junior Kristen Belyea with 10 points, and senior Cassidy Cain with 10 points and four assists. Freshman Ally Bromenschenkel reached a career-high with nine rebounds for the Fightin' Engineers.
Hanover had only one player reach double figures, with Allison Nash scoring 10 points with seven rebounds.
Rose-Hulman shot 43% from the field for the game along with 50% from 3-point range. The Fightin' Engineers held the Panthers to only 31% shooting with another strong defensive performance.
The Fightin' Engineers are 15-3 overall and 9-2 in league play, two games behind unbeaten league leader Bluffton. Rose-Hulman returns to action at home on Saturday against undefeated No. 21 Bluffton University. The doubleheader will feature a reversal of standard starting times, with the men playing at 1 p.m. and the women's 20th Anniversary Celebration Game slated for 3:30 p.m.
