TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College renew their women's basketball rivalry with a new trophy at stake on Monday at 7 p.m.
The winner of Monday's game at St. Mary-of-the-Woods will receive the newly created Dorsett Automotive Crosstown Classic Trophy that was unveiled last week at Dorsett Automotive. St. Mary-of-the-Woods leads the all-time series 14-9, but Rose-Hulman has won the last four meetings in the series.
Rose-Hulman stands 1-1 on the season after splitting two games in the DePauw Invitational this weekend. The Fightin' Engineers defeated Texas-Dallas 55-53 in the opener before falling 52-47 to DePauw on Saturday.
Senior Josie Schmidt leads Rose-Hulman in scoring and rebounding at 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore Ally Bromenschenkel is also averaging double figures at 11.5 points with 6.0 rebounds per contest so far this season.
St. Mary-of-the-Woods has a 2-3 mark that includes win over Wright State Lake and Blackburn. The Pomeroys rank among the top scoring teams in the USCAA at 92.6 points per game this season.
Tara Parmer leads four Pomeroys averaging double figures in scoring at 19.6 points per contest. Callan Taylor (13.8 ppg), Na-Shaunda Rayford (13.6 ppg) and Ja'Breena Gardner (10.2 ppg) are also double figure scorers for St. Mary-of-the-Woods on the young campaign.
