TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball team will cap its Thanksgiving Break with a matchup at in-state rival Wabash College on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Rose-Hulman stands 1-1 on the season after splitting two games at the Birmingham Southern Tip-off Tournament last weekend. The Fightin' Engineers defeated Rust 86-63 on Sunday after falling 80-69 to Birmingham Southern on Saturday.
Sophomore Charlie Aimone leads the Fightin' Engineer offense with an average of 19.0 points per game. Freshman Ryuji Aoki is also averaging double figures at 12.0 points per contest.
The Fightin' Engineers have had five players reach double figures in scoring during a game this season. Freshman Luke Callahan had 20 points against Birmingham Southern, sophomore Trey Sykes scored 17 against Rust, and senior Collin Wojcik had 11 points against Birmingham Southern.
Wabash has a 1-2 record on the season entering Sunday's home matchup. The Little Giants also defeated Rust and fell to Birmingham Southern, and dropped their opener against Blackburn. Colten Garland (13.7 ppg) and Evan Frank (13.3 ppg) lead the Little Giants in scoring so far this season.
After Sunday's game, Rose-Hulman will travel to Mount St. Joseph for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener on Saturday Dec. 3.
