TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- College Sport Communicators has announced their Academic All-District award winners for the sport of men's basketball.
Joey Schmitz represented the Fightin' Engineers, earning the first CSC Academic All-District honor of his career.
The sophomore mechanical engineering major from Bargersville, Indiana, has been a key member of the Fightin' Engineers men's basketball team this season. Schmitz received First Team All-HCAC and finished the year leading the team with 15.2 points per game, 74 three-pointers made, and 46 steals.
CSC Academic All-District Team honorees are chosen by the national organization based on combined academic and athletic accomplishments. Nominees must have a GPA above 3.50 in at least the sophomore year, and they must have either played in 90% or started 66% of their team's games.
CSC members will vote on the Academic All-America Team over the next week. The Academic All-America Team for men's basketball will be released on Tuesday, April 14, at noon.
