TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology looks for its third win in five days against a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin squad when the Fightin' Engineers travel to Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday night.
Rose-Hulman stands 4-1 on the season after defeating North Central 73-49 and North Park 59-55 to capture top honors at the North Park Invitational last weekend. Ally Bromenschenkel was named HCAC Player of the Week and North Park Tournament Most Valuable Player after averaging 21.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game in the team's three victories last week.
Bromenschenkel leads the team in scoring and rebounding at 17.6 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Senior Josie Schmidt adds 8.4 points and 6.6 rebounds, and set a season-high with five blocked shots against North Central.
The balanced scoring attack in the starting lineup also includes Alyzia Dilworth (6.2 ppg), Abby Bromenschenkel (6.0 ppg) and Abbie Marshall (4.6 ppg).
Illinois Wesleyan has played one of the nation's toughest schedules in compiling a 2-3 record so far this season. The Titans most recently dropped a narrow 87-86 decision to No. 9 Washington University on Sunday. Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Wisconsin-Whitewater, two traditional national powers, have handed Illinois Wesleyan the remaining losses so far this season.
Molly McGraw leads the Titans in scoring at 15.8 points per game. Rebekah Ehresman adds 11.4 points and a team-high 7.6 rebounds per contest.
The all-time series between Rose-Hulman and Illinois Wesleyan is tied at 1-1, with both teams winning on their home court over the past two seasons. After Wednesday's game, Rose-Hulman hits the road for Mount St. Joseph and the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener on Saturday at 2 p.m.
