TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opens the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball schedule on the road at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Rose-Hulman stands 4-2 on the season, including an 85-58 win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods in the Dorsett Automotive Crosstown Classic last month. The early victories also include wins over Texas-Dallas and College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin squads North Central and North Park.
Sophomore Ally Bromenschenkel is the reigning HCAC Player of the Week and leads the team in scoring (16.5 ppg) and rebounding (8.5 rpg). The starting lineup has also included Josie Schmidt (8.0 ppg), Alyzia Dilworth (6.5 ppg), Abby Bromenschenkel (6.0 ppg) and Abbie Marshall (4.2 ppg).
Defensively, Rose-Hulman continues to rank among the top squads in the Midwest by allowing just 55.5 points per game on 33% shooting from the field.
Mount St. Joseph stands 0-6 overall but narrowly lost its conference opener 60-51 to Anderson on Wednesday. The early slate also includes an overtime loss to Hiram.
Lainee Studer leads the Mount St. Joseph offense at 15.2 points per game. Other key scorers have included Ciera Phillips (13.5 ppg), Krystal Wannemacher (8.2 ppg) and Brooklynn Sturwold (6.2 ppg).
After Saturday's matchup, Rose-Hulman opens its home schedule against Franklin College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
