TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opens the 2016-17 men's basketball home schedule with a matchup against Bluffton University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The matchup will also mark the first men's basketball game on the new John Mutchner Court, named after the 25-year basketball coach and athletic director at Rose-Hulman from 1963-88.
Rose-Hulman stands 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, while Bluffton enters at 6-1 and 1-1 in league games.
The Fightin' Engineers topped Franklin 86-73 on Wednesday night behind five players scoring in double figures. Stephen Schueth led the scoring attack with 17 points. Charlie Aimone had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Ryuji Aoki, Eli Combs and John Czarnecki each had 10 points in the win.
Aimone leads Rose-Hulman and ranks seventh in the HCAC in scoring at 17.8 points per game. He also ranks fifth in the conference in field goal percentage at 54.8%.
Rose-Hulman's most recent starting lineup included Schueth (7.6 ppg), Aimone (17.8 ppg), Czarnecki (8.4 ppg), Kyle Steckel (3.3 ppg) and Nick McGrail (5.0 ppg).
Bluffton stands 6-1 overall and 1-1 in league play after an 88-87 overtime victory over Earlham on Wednesday night. Senior Austin Rohde leads the Beavers in scoring at 19.1 points per game. Sophomore Jared Wentling has contributed 14.9 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds per contest.
After Saturday's matchup, Rose-Hulman will hit the road to face conference foe Transylvania University on Dec. 17 in Lexington.
