TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology looks to extend its 11-game women's basketball winning streak with Wednesday evening's 7:30 p.m. home matchup against Franklin College.
Rose-Hulman stands 16-3 overall and 10-2 in HCAC play entering Wednesday's game after a 57-50 win over No. 21 Bluffton Saturday afternoon. The Fightin' Engineers shot 40% from the field, and were led by three Engineers in double figures: sophomore Alyzia Dilworth (13 pts), Abby Bromenschenkel (11 pts), and Ally Bromenschenkel (10 pts).
Rose-Hulman has received a vote in the d3hoops.com national top 25 for this week, marking the first time the Fightin' Engineers have received national poll votes since the 2006-07 season. Despite Saturday's loss, Bluffton remained in the d3hoops.com poll at the No. 25 spot.
The balanced Rose-Hulman scoring attack features eight players averaging between 5.8 and 8.2 points per game. The starting frontcourt has featured Ally Bromenschenkel (8.2 ppg, 54% from the field), Josie Schmidt (7.2 ppg) and Abbie Marshall (6.1 ppg). The starting backcourt has included seniors Cassidy Cain (5.8 ppg) and Andi Evers (3.2 ppg).
Other leading scorers for the Fightin' Engineers have included Kristen Belyea (7.5 ppg), Brianna Gliesmann (7.3 ppg) who leads the HCAC in three-point percentage (56%), Chiarra Franklin (6.0 ppg) and Alyzia Dilworth (6.2 ppg). A total of 13 players have seen action in twelve or more contests.
Franklin stands 13-6 overall and 9-3 in league play entering Wednesday's matchup. The Grizzlies beat Rose-Hulman 48-47 in overtime on December 9 at the Spurlock Center.
Franklin leads Rose-Hulman 22-10 in the series including a 12-8 record in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
After Wednesday's matchup, Rose-Hulman travels to Mount St. Joseph for a doubleheader with the men. This game features a special tip-off time with the men at 2 p.m. and the women at 4 p.m.
