NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology looks to extend its school record 14-game women's basketball winning streak and is also ranked No. 6 in the region heading into Saturday afternoon's 3 p.m. away matchup against the Manchester University Spartans.
Rose-Hulman stands 19-3 overall and 13-2 in HCAC play entering Saturday's game after a 62-52 win over Earlham College Wednesday evening. The Fightin' Engineers shot 39% from the field, and were led by freshman Chiarra Franklin with 11 points and 11 boards in the win.
Rose-Hulman received two votes in the d3hoops.com national top 25 this week and enters Saturday's game tied for first place in the HCAC with Bluffton.
The balanced Rose-Hulman scoring attack features eight players averaging between 5.8 and 8.1 points per game. The starting frontcourt has featured Ally Bromenschenkel (8.1 ppg, 55% from the field), Josie Schmidt (7.0 ppg) and Abbie Marshall (6.0 ppg). The starting backcourt has included seniors Cassidy Cain (5.8 ppg) and Andi Evers (3.4 ppg).
Other leading scorers for the Fightin' Engineers have included Kristen Belyea (6.8 ppg), Brianna Gliesmann (6.9 ppg) who is second in the HCAC in three-point percentage (47%), Chiarra Franklin (6.2 ppg) and Alyzia Dilworth (6.3 ppg). A total of 13 players have seen action in 12 or more contests.
Manchester stands 6-16 overall and 4-11 in league play entering Saturday's matchup. The Engineers beat the Spartans 70-45 on January 9th at Hulbert Arena.
Manchester leads Rose-Hulman 21-9 overall and 13-7 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Rose-Hulman has won the last three meetings against Manchester in the series.
After Saturday's matchup, Rose-Hulman returns home for their last two home games of the regular season on Feb. 17th and Feb. 20th.
