TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology looks to extend its school record 15-game women's basketball winning streak and is also ranked No. 6 in the region heading into Wednesday evening's 7:30 p.m. home matchup against the Anderson University Ravens. Wednesday's game is also Chick-Fil-A night and if the Fightin' Engineers score 75 points everyone in Hulbert Arena will receive free Chick-Fil-A!
Rose-Hulman stands 20-3 overall and 14-2 in HCAC play entering Saturday's game after a 55-50 win over Manchester University Saturday afternoon. The Fightin' Engineers shot 42% from the field, and were led by juniors Josie Schmidt (10) and Jamie Loving (8).
The Fightin' Engineers has won 20 games in a season for the second time in program history. The 2006-07 team finished 21-5 and won a then school record 11 games in a row as the top previous team in school history.
Rose-Hulman received three votes in the d3hoops.com national top 25 last week and enters Wednesday's game tied for first place in the HCAC with Bluffton.
The balanced Rose-Hulman scoring attack features eight players averaging between 5.7 and 7.9 points per game. The starting frontcourt has featured Ally Bromenschenkel (7.9 ppg, 54% from the field), Josie Schmidt (7.1 ppg) and Abbie Marshall (5.8 ppg). The starting backcourt has included seniors Cassidy Cain (5.7 ppg) and Andi Evers (3.5 ppg).
Other leading scorers for the Fightin' Engineers have included Kristen Belyea (6.7 ppg), Brianna Gliesmann (6.9 ppg) who is first in the HCAC in three-point percentage (49%), Chiarra Franklin (6.0 ppg) and Alyzia Dilworth (6.3 ppg). A total of 13 players have seen action in 12 or more contests.
Anderson stands 5-18 overall and 4-12 in league play entering Saturday's matchup. The Engineers beat the Ravens 65-55 on January 13th.
Anderson leads Rose-Hulman 23-9 overall and 10-9 in HCAC play. Rose-Hulman has won the last three meetings against Anderson in the series.
After Wednesday's matchup, Rose-Hulman returns home for their last game of the season and Senior Day on Saturday against Defiance College. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the men following at 3 p.m.
