TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team will compete in matches at the DePauw University Invitational on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
The Fightin' Engineers will face off with Centre College at 7 p.m. on Friday night at the DePauw University tennis facility. Rose-Hulman completes the weekend with a noon match on Saturday against Wooster College that will be played at DePauw's outdoor facility.
Rose-Hulman stands 0-1 on the season after falling to No. 3 ranked Washington University earlier this month. Sophomore Cam Metzger led the performance by earning a victory at the No. 3 singles position.
The Fightin' Engineers were selected as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason favorites this season after making their first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in 2015. Rose-Hulman won both the HCAC regular season and tournament titles, and returns the top four singles players and a key doubles veteran, and have added two newcomers listed as players to watch in the official league release.
Centre comes into the weekend at 1-1 on the season after defeating Albion and falling to Sewanee. Wooster has a 2-1 record, with wins over Walsh and Mount Union and a loss to Pacific (Ore.).
After this weekend's action, Rose-Hulman will head to Florida for six matches from Feb. 29-March 2.
