CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology looks to extend its school record 12-game women's basketball winning streak with Saturday afternoon's 4 p.m. away matchup against Mount St. Joseph University.
Rose-Hulman stands 17-3 overall and 11-2 in HCAC play entering Saturday's game after a 54-41 win over Franklin College Wednesday evening. The Fightin' Engineers shot 38% from the field, and were led by two Engineers in double figures: sophomore Alyzia Dilworth (12 pts) and senior Cassidy Cain (10 pts).
Rose-Hulman has received a vote in the d3hoops.com national top 25 for this week, marking the first time the Fightin' Engineers have received national poll votes since the 2006-07 season. The Fightin' Engineers also stand in second place in the HCAC, one game behind of first place Bluffton.
The balanced Rose-Hulman scoring attack features eight players averaging between 5.8 and 8.0 points per game. The starting frontcourt has featured Ally Bromenschenkel (8.0 ppg, 54% from the field), Josie Schmidt (7.2 ppg) and Abbie Marshall (6.0 ppg). The starting backcourt has included seniors Cassidy Cain (6.1 ppg) and Andi Evers (3.2 ppg).
Other leading scorers for the Fightin' Engineers have included Kristen Belyea (7.4 ppg), Brianna Gliesmann (7.1 ppg) who leads the HCAC in three-point percentage (52%), Chiarra Franklin (5.8 ppg) and Alyzia Dilworth (6.5 ppg). A total of 13 players have seen action in twelve or more contests.
Mount St. Joseph stands 7-13 overall and 6-7 in league play entering Saturday's matchup. The Engineers beat the Lions 59-44 on December 5th at Hulbert Arena.
Rose-Hulman leads Mount St. Joseph 19-5 in the series including a 17-2 record in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Rose-Hulman has won the last 11 meetings between these two teams.
After Saturday's matchup, Rose-Hulman travels to Earlham Wednesday evening for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
