FRANKLIN, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on three home runs and a pitching gem from senior Alec McNally to defeat Franklin College 8-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball action on Tuesday afternoon.

The Fightin' Engineer offense relied on home runs by senior Patrick Klima, senior Hazen Hamather and junior Drew Schnitz to propel an 11-hit attack.  Senior Caleb Kissel added two doubles, with Klima and freshman David Burnside also providing doubles to the offensive attack.

McNally tossed eight shutout innings to improve to 3-0 on the season.  He allowed just two singles and three walks with six strikeouts in the performance.  Sophomore Ian Grant tossed a scoreless ninth inning to complete the shutout.

Kissel, Klima and Schnitz led the Rose-Hulman offense with two hits each.  Hamather scored two runs, and Schnitz recorded two RBIs in the contest.

Rose-Hulman scored twice in the third inning to snap a scoreless tie, then provided insurance with four runs in the sixth.  McNally allowed just one single in the second and one in the eighth to shut down the Franklin offense.

The Fightin' Engineers maintained a three-game lead over multiple teams in the HCAC standings with the win.  Rose-Hulman improved to 20-7 overall and 12-3 in league play, while Franklin dropped to 11-18 and 6-10.  The Fightin' Engineers travel to Defiance for a three-game series this weekend.
