Men's Tennis Travels to Earlham Saturday

RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team will travel to face conference foe Earlham College on Saturday at noon. The Fightin' Engineers are looking to secure at least a share of the 2016 HCAC regular season title.

Rose-Hulman set a single-season school record with its 16th victory last Saturday by defeating regionally ranked Wabash 9-0.  The Fightin' Engineers are ranked No. 18 in the latest NCAA Division III Central Region rankings and lead the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference at 6-0 in league play.

The Fightin' Engineers current overall record is 16-8 (6-0 HCAC) after a tough loss Tuesday evening to nationally ranked No. 35 DePauw. Earlham is currently 9-8 overall and has conference wins over Defiance (8-1), Franklin, (7-2), and Transylvania (7-2).

Junior Brandon Benedict leads Rose-Hulman with a school record 39 total victories so far this season.  Benedict is 21-8 in doubles play and 18-7 in singles matches, improving his career singles record to 42-20.  He is a two-time HCAC Player of the Week in 2016.

Junior Georges Adam has been named HCAC Player of the Week three times and has 35 total wins this season.  Adam is 21-7 in doubles play and 14-8 in singles matches so far this spring.

Freshman Andre Adam is also over the 30-win mark for the spring season.  He stands 17-8 in singles play and 15-10 in doubles matches, and has also been named HCAC Player of the Week in 2016.

Sophomore Cam Metzger has a 12-11 singles and 14-10 doubles mark in primarily the No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles positions.  Metzger is 24-14 overall in singles play at Rose-Hulman.

Senior Matt Conrad has records of 13-10 in singles and 12-10 in doubles play.  His primary doubles partner has been Joe Kendall, who has a 14-6 mark in 2016.

Freshman Andrew Schiffman (10-7) and sophomore Brendan Goldacker (8-5) have shared time at the No. 6 singles position to round out the primary Rose-Hulman lineup.

After Saturday's match, Rose-Hulman will travel to Transylvania University on April 30th at 10 a.m. for their lsat conference matchup of the regular season.
