TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team will face Wisconsin-Whitewater to open the NCAA Division III Tournament as part of a five-team regional site hosted by Washington University in St. Louis.  The match will take place Saturday at 3 p.m. Central Time, with the winner advancing to a third-round match on Sunday.

Rose-Hulman has established a single-season school record with 20 wins and has earned its second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament.  The Fightin' Engineers defeated Hanover and Transylvania in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament to punch its ticket into the field of 43 teams.

Rose-Hulman won its second consecutive HCAC regular season and tournament championship this season and is ranked No. 12 in the NCAA Division III Central Region rankings.  The Fightin' Engineers have won two straight HCAC regular season and tournament championships, highlighted by 20 consecutive wins against conference foes.

Wisconsin-Whitewater is ranked No. 16 nationally and No. 4 in the Central Region with an overall record of 22-6.  The Warhawks have three losses to NCAA Division I foes, one to a Division II school and two to teams in the NCAA Division III top 40.

Rose-Hulman has established a single-season school record for wins despite facing the toughest schedule in program history.  Of the Fightin' Engineers eight losses this season, four were against non-Division III foes (two Division I, one Division II, one NAIA) and three more were against teams ranked in the NCAA Division III national top 40.

Junior Georges Adam and junior Brandon Benedict have held down the top two singles spots this season.  Adam is 16-9 overall in singles play, while Benedict has a 22-7 mark.  Together, Adam and Benedict are the No. 1 doubles team with a record of 23-7.

Sophomore Cam Metzger and freshman Andre Adam are the No. 3 and No. 4 singles players, while combining to form the No. 2 doubles team.  Metzger has a singles mark of 15-11, Adam is 19-8 and the duo are 17-8 as a doubles squad.

Senior Matt Conrad has compiled a 14-11 record at the No. 5 singles position and has teamed with Joe Kendall for a 13-9 doubles record.  Brendan Goldacker and Andrew Schiffman have held down the No. 6 singles position with a combined 19 victories this season.

The winner of Saturday's match will advance to the NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen to face either top-seeded Washington University (16-5), Grinnell (29-5) or Edgewood (15-10) on Sunday.
