TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman women's basketball team will hit the road on Wednesday January 18, traveling to the other side of Indiana to play the Earlham College Quakers in Richmond at 7:30 p.m.  

The Fightin' Engineers are 12-3, 7-1 HCAC in 2016-17.  Rose-Hulman used a late surge on Saturday January 14 to knock off upstart Defiance College 55-42.  Rose-Hulman outscored the Yellow Jackets 19-7 in the final period of play and used a key 13-1 run in the fourth quarter to secure the win.  

Earlham is 1-14, 1-7 HCAC.  The Quakers got their first win of the season this past weekend on Saturday, defeating Mount St. Joseph 63-58 in Cincinnati. Four of Earlham's seven losses in HCAC play have been by five points or less.

Rose-Hulman boasts the best defense in the Heartland Conference and one of the top defenses in the nation.  RHIT ranks No. 1 in the HCAC in rebounds per game (43.9), points allowed per game (48.8), and field goal percentage defense (31.4%).  Rose-Hulman ranks 11th nationally in rebounding margin (+11.1) and field goal percentage defense, and 13th nationally in points allowed per game.  

Sophomore Ally Bromenschenkel has led the Fightin' Engineers in both scoring (13.3 ppg) and rebounding (7.5) all season.  Junior Alyzia Dilworth (8.3 ppg, 4.1 rpg) has started every game this season and is one of Rose-Hulman's best defenders.  Senior Josie Schmidt (8.2 ppg, 5.6 rpg) scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds in 23 minutes of action against Defiance on Saturday.  

The Quakers are led by Hannah Franklin's 11.8 ppg.  Shannon Pittman is adding 9.7 ppg and Maya Luney is EC's leading rebounder with 6.9 rpg.
